imaging are performed. For bone mineral measurements at our center, the newest model of Hologic QDR serial, with the serial number Discovery 82408, is used.
The waist and pelvic region, where the calcium loss starts first, are dense with trabecular bones. The calsification and senile degenerative changes at the waist cause the results to be false high. Our device can perform measurements laterally without causing the patient to change his/her position and prevents the factors that cause the BMD values to be relatively high. So, the results are robust and reliable.
The BMD values measured for the patient are compared with the results of those who are in 30 years old group (T score) and with those of whom are the same age group with the patients (Z score). In that way, variations from the normal values can be calculated.
In addition to the imaging of spesific regions such as waist, pelvis and arm, the whole body can be imaged. For the whole body-imaging, information about the bone density is given as a total result. The most important property of such whole body imaging is its ability to show the results seperately for the bone, muscle and lipid ratios. So, you can be sure at what borders you are considering your weight and lipild quantity and so you can take necessary precautions to reach your ideal weight.
Untill now, studies have been performed on lumbar vertebrae in the spine level and calcium levels have been measured. Metamorphometry examination provides determination of BMD values of lumbar and thoracal vertebrae as well as information about the height of the lumbar and backspines. So, it is possible to detect the height loss of spines due to fractures.
One of the most useful features of our unit is to put the new image together with the previous one on the screen. So, the lines for analysis are passed through the same places. In that way, a better comparison can be made and the changes can easily be determined. Additionally, the differences between all the measurements before are given as (+) and (-) % deviations, so that it is possible to see, if the therapy works and how the bones daily change.
Even if you don’t have any problems now, you can get information about the status of your bones via an examination, which doesn’t need any preparations and is easy as well.
